Do you shop at Redner's Market? Do you have a Redner's gas card? If you do, could you save your register tapes for us? We will get 1% for every penny spent. It does add up for us. If you don't have a card you can ask for one at the market. You will get .10 a gallon off of every $100.00 spent and we will get some help as well. If you are able to help us out, you may give your register tapes (the complete tape) to any LPHS board member. Thank you very much for your support. _________________________________________
NEW SANATOGA SPEEDWAY PHOTOS
Friend of the LPHS Matt Peck has given us a collection of
photos of the Sanatoga Speedway. This is
a large collection including 173 pictures and many of them are shots we have
never seen before. The photos belonged
to Matt’s grandfather who raced at the track. Matt is the owner of Matt’s Auto Detailing located on S.
Adams St. in Pottstown. If you would
like your vehicle to look brand new, he is just the guy you need to see. You can reach him at 610-326-5242. We thank Matt very much for bringing this collection to
us. These photos are available to view
at any of our events, Open Houses, or stop in at a meeting. We will be happy to show them to you. __________________________________________
SANATOGA SPEEDWAY VIDEO
We have acquired a film clip of the Sanatoga Speedway from May, 1951. It is seven minutes long and shows plenty of
bumping and banging around racing action the way it was in those early days of
stock car races. There is also a clip of
a Demolition Derby. Those of you who
remember the Sanatoga Speedway will really enjoy this. Stop by the Chapel at any event or meeting
and we will be glad to show it to you.
We have recently had several old VHS tapes converted to DVD's. These tapes were made when Jim Scheffey did interviews with a few of our older members. It is very interesting to hear them talk about what times were like back in the early years of our township. We have interviews with Elmer Saylor, Mrs. Virginia Schultz, Jerry Richards, and Elmer Snell, as well as some programs and events held at the Chapel. We also have a video of a program created by the students of the Pottsgrove Middle School on the life of Annie Wittenmeyer. If you would like to take a look at any of these DVDs they are available at the Chapel for your viewing pleasure. Please stop by and see our numerous artifacts collected over the years as well. _____________________________________________
NEW DUSK TO DAWN LIGHTING
We are pleased to announce that Charles Wittenmyer of The Sanatoga Corporation,
located at 2783 E. High St. in Sanatoga, has generously donated 3
outdoor dusk to dawn lighting fixtures to be installed at the Chapel.
The lighting we had needed to be turned on or off manually, so
if none of us were at the Chapel, the lights were not on.
These
new lights are more energy efficient and provide better lighting than
our old ones, and they will greatly improve visibility and also provide
additional security for our Chapel. The lights have now been installed and they look great! Drive by some evening and take a look at how nice they look.
We thank Charles very much for this generous donation. We also thank electrician Bruce Foltz for donating his time and expertise to install these lights for us.
